The Association: about us
Compagnia del Buco APS is a social promotion association founded in Reggio Emilia in 2024. It develops cultural, artistic, educational and community projects, bringing together performing arts, craftsmanship, sustainability and participation.
Our members bring their artistic and craft skills to activities for children, young people, families and communities, with particular attention to making, reusing materials and nurturing spaces and relationships.
Activities
Compagnia del Buco APS runs creative woodworking, creative recycling, clowning and circus arts workshops, as well as educational and participatory programmes.
It also develops self-building projects and designs and builds sets, installations and stage devices, using reclaimed materials and modular, mobile and reusable solutions whenever possible.
Activities take place in different neighbourhoods across the city, in collaboration with associations, institutions, schools and local organisations.
Festivals and cultural initiatives
The association organises and curates cultural initiatives and festivals that bring performing arts into local communities. In San Bartolomeo, it runs Teatro Diffuso and Circo nel Fieno, two projects that turn neighbourhood spaces into places for culture, performance and social life.
Its operational base and one of its main spaces for production and activities is the Centro Sociale Orti Montenero, in the Santa Croce neighbourhood, which frequently hosts social and community theatre activities.
Community projects and networks
Compagnia del Buco APS is a co-founder of LOOP and develops collaborative networks and co-design projects in different neighbourhoods.
In the area around Reggio Emilia railway station, it has delivered the urban cultural regeneration projects Sottoponte and Sottosopra, and the Fammi Strada project, working to enhance spaces and involve communities.
The association is also a partner in Estate Popolare and participates in shared programmes and projects with other Third Sector organisations and the City Council, including the co-design of Animali Intelligenti.
Our approach
Compagnia del Buco APS sees culture as something to build and experience together, as well as something to enjoy.
Through theatre, circus, manual work, creative reuse and community design, the association creates opportunities for people to learn, experiment, create, meet and transform the spaces they inhabit.
Working in networks, engaging with different neighbourhoods and developing projects with communities guide the association's work.
